My name is Chelsey, and I was born and raised right here in Nanaimo. My husband is Brad. My family all have up-to-date criminal record checks on file. We do have pets in the home.
Ready Spaghetti! Child Care is Licensed as In-Home Multi-Age Child Care. My philosophy focuses on Play-Based Emergent Learning in a place-based vision. We often take learning into the community.
I have been in operation since 2007, registered (PacifiCare 2010), licensed with VIHA (2013), and hold my ECE Certification. I keep active in the professional development community, keep up to date with First Aid, Criminal Record Check, CPR, and Food Safe.
Our Center is in the North End of Nanaimo (Upper Lantzville), and we love to build connections throughout the community. The children expand their curiosities in their immediate world, which then allows learning to be expanded from their interests. Seasonal themes, horticulture, permaculture, sustainability, and an abundance of time outdoors have become exciting ways of learning and expanding interests for the children in my care.
I am committed to creating a welcome, inclusive space where all the children feel seen, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Every child is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. Our environment supports children to be themselves and learn through their imaginative play, crafts, and outdoor time each day in safe environments, embracing risky play where the children gauge their abilities under supervision.
I focus on helping the children learn independence during their day through safe and respectful ways to interact with others, using simple guidance and clear, consistent boundaries. Large muscle movement play and small motor skills are very important to us. There are many crafts, stories, and activities offered, indoors and out, as the weather allows. Healthy habits are focused
upon, such as healthy food offered and brought to daycare, appropriate hand washing, and NOT shying away from getting dirty. “If You Haven’t Gotten Dirty Today, You Haven’t Had Enough Fun”.
I offer a gradual entry to the program and a trial period for all to ensure that the children are comfortable in the group, as well as to ensure that we are both a good “fit” as the care provider in my home, as well as for your family.
Weather Report!!!
With the cold and wet weather, please ensure that your child comes with proper footwear for the weather :) We go outside every day rain or shine!
